JOB DESCRIPTION: | Primary Purpose:
- To support the implementation of High Quality Instructional Materials in alignment to research-based instructional strategies for the grant period

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: | Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Texas Teaching certification required
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience serving low-income, high-need students, including children living in poverty, emergent bilinguals, and children with disabilities
- Proven ability to deliver professional development and instructional coaching in the Science of Teaching Reading for adult learners preferred
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
- A demonstrated capacity for problem-solving, self-reflection, giving/receiving feedback, and continuous improvement
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: | Responsibilities and Duties Common to all Region 10 ESC Employees:
- Ability to work on and enhance a team
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of position responsibilities and to ensure timelines are met
- Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings
- Maintain a positive, customer friendly, and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal)
- Participate as an effective team member who contributes to center-wide strategic planning goals
- Display proficient levels of technology applications and remain current in the area of digital integration
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by Region 10 Leadership
- Prepare and organize resources, train, and collaborate with Region 10 personnel
- Exhibit initiative in identifying problems and suggesting solutions in a positive manner
- Exhibit good judgment and decision making
- Keep supervisor informed of program and district needs
- Maintain up-to-date entries in Region 10 databases and accurate records for tracking and invoicing
- Adhere to Center procedures, guidelines, and policies
Specific Responsibilities and Duties for the HQIM Consultant - Teaching and Learning
- Provide effective, research-based instructional support in the area of literacy for campuses
- Provide direct coaching to teachers on lesson internalization and unit assessment
- Attend training and meetings required by TEA to support the implementation of high quality instructional materials
- Attend all Vendor Product Academies and become certified
- Communicate with districts, campuses, charter schools, TEA, and ESCs to provide effective, research-based technical assistance to improve student performance
- Record accurate documentation of all technical assistance provided to districts as outlined in the ESC Literacy Coach grant
- Design and deliver professional development based on HQIM vendor materials and lessons
- Follow all guidelines and timelines outlined in the ESC Literacy Coach grant
- Travel as part of job responsibilities

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: |
- 5 years classroom teaching experience required
- Completed or currently completing credentials for HB3 Reading Academies or knowledge of Science of Teaching Reading (SOTR) preferred
- Complete Research Based Instructional Strategies RBIS (RLA) preferred
Accountability:
- The HQIM Literacy Instructional Coach shall report directly to the HQIM Program Coordinator.
