POSITION:  Facility Technician I (day position)
JOB DESCRIPTION:  

Primary Purpose: 

  • Maintain cleaning of all buildings to ensure a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of building and grounds operation.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Fully licensed driver

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, grounds, security and safety procedures
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and basic building repair techniques for electrical, plumbing, structural and cosmetic portions of facilities
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
  • Ability to handle cleaning supplies properly
  • Ability to operate R10 vehicles properly and safely
  • Ability to assist people politely and calmly at all times
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Responsibilities and Duties Common to all Region 10 ESC Employees:

  • Ability to work on and enhance a team
  • Utilize time wisely for effective management of position responsibilities and to ensure timelines are met
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings
  • Maintain a positive, customer friendly, and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal)
  • Participate as an effective team member who contributes to center-wide strategic planning goals
  • Display proficient levels of technology applications and remain current in the area of digital integration
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Region 10 Leadership
  • Prepare and organize resources, train, and collaborate with Region 10 personnel
  • Exhibit initiative in identifying problems and suggesting solutions in a positive manner
  • Exhibit good judgement and decision making
  • Keep supervisor informed of program and district needs
  • Maintain up-to-date entries in Region 10 databases and accurate records for tracking and invoicing
  • Adhere to Center procedures, guidelines, and policies

 Specific Responsibilities and Duties for the Facility Technician I:

Cleaning

  • Perform building cleaning per the schedule established by the maintenance supervisor, including floors, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms
  • Keep building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, common areas, neat and clean
  • Make coffee and morning set up procedures
  • Inspect all work areas and clean as needed
  • Comply with R10 procedures and local laws for the storage and disposal of trash
  • Per work orders set-up furniture for all on-site R10 meetings
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed

General Maintenance

  • Receive and complete work orders for maintenance of buildings or transport assistance
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff
  • Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to Supervisor
  • Assist in setting up facilities for special events

Security

  • Maintain the security of all building sites

Safety

  • Maintain safety standards
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in operating, and safe condition
  • Perform disaster duty when needed

  • Maintain current up-to-date knowledge of all functions in this job description
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:  
  • Demonstrate ability to back-up and substitute for all shifts and work independently to complete assigned tasks
